The GOT TO BE NC Competition Dining Series
Got to Be NC Competition dining is a by invitation, single elimination series of “iron-chef” style battles in designated NC regions. Two restaurants compete each with a 3 member chef team. Each team prepares 3 courses using a featured NC product as the secret ingredient. The featured ingredient is revealed to the chefs at noon the day of their battle and it must be used in each of their courses. The chefs have 7 hours to prepare their menu and begin prepping each course for the evening’s 6 course meal. As each course is brought out, 130 diners taste and judge each course to determine the winner and who moves on to the next round.
Our 2016 series will celebrate our 5th and final year of the series. The series has allowed us to successfully celebrate North Carolina’s agriculture and culinary talent through more than 300 interactive dinner events and 1,830 locally sourced dishes to 30,000 diners! The series was made possible by great partnerships, namely Pate Dawson/ Southern Foods for the local products that were provided to the chefs and the vision of the event that came from Jimmy Crippen, our champion and emcee. The series has celebrated all the best of North Carolina food and the many talented chefs that have participated and showcased their talents to our diners. Thank you for all your support!
